Elizabeth J. Keeler, Ph.D. Honored by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Social Service Program Development
Community Service Program Development Specialist with 36 Years of Professional Experience

SPOKANE, WA, January 06, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Elizabeth J. Keeler, Retired Social Worker and Community Resource Program Coordinator for DSHS (Department of Social and Health Services) and Project Manager for HOME (Helping Ourselves Means Education) funded by a contract with DSHS, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in social service program development.

Prior to her retirement, Dr. Keeler gained an impressive 36 years of professional experience in education and social services. During her tenure with the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services and its contract program HOME (Helping Ourselves Means Education), she worked in many areas. Her diverse responsibilities included organizing informative workshops, providing social services for single parents, and providing a free newsletter for individuals struggling to be free from poverty. Additionally, she oversaw the development of a resource center for single parents, developed programs to serve underprivileged populations, assisted individuals wishing to pursue higher education, and collaborated with local social service agencies to identify service gaps. She was a co-founder of SPOC (Support for Parents Overcoming Challenges) which provided a resource center for parents and a day care program for 100 children.

Dr. Keeler spent much of her career serving on boards and committees for various non-profit social service programs. She gained in-depth experience working with low-income, single parents and welfare recipients, during which time she learned about the difficulties that low-income families face and the lack of support and resources available to them. She is proud to have made a conscious effort to educate the public regarding the needs of less fortunate citizens and connected with many groups in order to generate support for social service programs. Dr. Keeler notes that she had an innate interest in social work and was inspired to enter into her profession because she witnessed the unfortunate impact of poverty on everyday families.

Compassion, respect for those who are less fortunate, motivation, and a solid educational background are the driving forces behind Dr. Keeler's success. She received her Ph.D. in Leadership Studies from Gonzaga University, her Master of Public Administration and her Master of Social Work from Eastern Washington University and her Master's Degree in Applied Behavioral Science from Whitworth University. Furthermore, she earned her Master's Degree in Home Economics and her Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics from Washington State University. She is a member of Spokane Authors & Self-Publishers, the Eastern Washington Genealogical Society, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Pioneer Circle of Spokane's Women Helping Women and the Spokane Alliance. She is a former member of the National Association of Social Workers.
