Mavis Polson Lewis to be Profiled in Exclusive Registry
Mavis Polson Lewis' book helps people prepare for their final arrangements
COLUMBIA, MD, September 22, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mavis Polson Lewis, Co-author of Are Your Affairs in Order? has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in counseling.
Mrs. Lewis has a keen awareness of young adults, their needs, their interests and their goals. She enjoys helping individuals with the challenges they face on a day to day basis. She is a member of the Maryland Association for Counseling and Development and the Maryland Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development. She constantly seeks to grow professionally by participating in workshops and holding leadership positions in community organizations.
Mrs. Lewis was a teacher, counselor and administrator for Baltimore County Public Schools in Baltimore, Maryland for 29 years. Prior to Baltimore County, she spent six years teaching in Virginia and California. Since retiring in 1996, she has been working in community endeavors. She recently co-authored and published a book in 2007 entitled, 'Are Your Affairs in Order? Guidelines to Assist You.' She is currently doing book talks and presentations on the topic. She became involved in her profession because she always liked working with children and the field of business and counseling fascinated her. Teaching business subjects and counseling students were a good fit, and she attributes her success to her knowledge, dedication, sensitivity, dependability and professionalism.
Mrs. Lewis received her Master's Degree in Secondary Education with a concentration in Counseling and Guidance from Towson University, Towson, Maryland, and her Bachelor's Degree in Business Education from Hampton University, Hampton, Virginia. She is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor. She is Past President of the Columbia, Maryland Chapter of the National Hampton Alumni Association, and was appointed for a two-year term on the Martin Luther King Commission for Howard County, Maryland.
