TAMPA, FL, October 20, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- DIG Coaching Practice presents "ADHD Coaching Scholarships" on Attention Talk Radio with host Jeff Copper and guests Michael Skoien of Shire Pharmaceuticals and Robert Tudisco of the Edge Foundation. The year 2011 marked the first time Shire has offered scholarships to individuals with ADHD to go on to secondary education programs. Each scholarship provided $2000 towards tuition and one year of free ADHD coaching by trained coaches provided by The Edge Foundation. On October 21, 2011, Skoien and Tudisco share the details of the cooperative effort between Shire Pharmaceuticals and the Edge Foundation to continue the ADHD scholarship program again for the 2012-2013 academic year. They will share how the scholarship program came about and will give information for individuals with ADHD, parents, and educators on how to apply.
Michael Skoien is Vice President, Patient & Customer Excellence, in Shire Pharmaceutical's ADHD Business Unit. He joined Shire Pharmaceuticals in 2004 as vice president and product general manager for Shire's oral amphetamine products (Adderall XR and several developmental compounds). Since that time, he has led multiple global product teams and other efforts in adult ADHD market development in the US. Previously, he had led the ADHD business unit's efforts to enter global ADHD markets in Latin America, Australia, and Asia and participated on the teams responsible for Shire's efforts to enter the European ADHD market. He assumed his current role approximately one year ago to help the ADHD business unit have a more profound impact on the lives of individuals with ADHD beyond medication therapy. He has over 35 years of experience in the healthcare field, beginning his career as a clinical pharmacist in a hospital setting prior to joining the pharmaceutical industry.
Robert Tudisco is Executive Director of The Edge Foundation whose mission is to provide specialized coaching for college students with ADHD. He also has a law practice in New York and is a freelance writer. As an adult diagnosed with ADHD, he is an avid runner and shares that running helps him cope with his ADHD. Since his diagnosis, he has researched and written extensively on the subject of practical coping mechanisms and systems for adults with ADHD. His most personal and poignant writing, however, is a poem entitled The Wonderfulness of Me.
