Tanya Nowak teaches military families coping skills in relation to military life

JOINT BASE LEWIS-McCHORD, WA, July 5, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Tanya M. Nowak, M.A., LMHC, Resiliency Trainer for FOCUS (Families Overcoming Under Stress), a division of the Jane & Terry Semel Institute for Neuroscience & Human Behavior at the University of California Los Angeles, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in counseling services.

As a child growing up in Germany and living in a cross-cultural environment, Ms. Nowak developed an interest in helping people find their way in life. Today, she specializes in guiding individuals in achieving positive changes and enriching their lives as a resiliency trainer for FOCUS. Her position entails coaching and teaching military families transitional and coping skills in relation to dealing with military life.

Ms. Nowak is driven by her determination to aid others achieve their full potential with positive changes in their lives. Personally and professionally, she is determined to succeed and to further her education. In 1998, she earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland University College. She went on to receive a Master of Arts in Counseling and Personnel Services from the University of Maryland, College Park. In 2001, she was inducted into Chi Sigma Iota, an international honor society that recognizes excellence in counseling. Ms. Nowak hopes to expand her private practice in the years to come by providing workshops, seminars, individual counseling and consulting services to military members and civilians.
